The Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association hosted their “Cattlemen at the Capitol” event in St. Paul. That morning, cattlemen highlighted the importance of the industry during the Minnesota House Agriculture and Food Finance and Policy Division meeting. “Minnesota’s beef industry contributes $4.9 billion and over 47,000 jobs to the state’s economy. As far as agriculture goes, we rank towards the top for livestock,” said MSCA Executive Director Ashley Kohls. During testimony, Kohls was asked about weather challenges cattle producers are facing this winter. Large amounts of snow and bitterly cold temperatures are just part of the battle. Association members will also be visiting with legislators individually throughout the day.
