Minnesota lawmakers are considering legislation to legalize industrial hemp. Minnesota Senator Kent Eken says the state is in a good position to produce the crop, because of their already established pilot program. “I think this has the potential to be a very positive thing for our economic development. Not just for farmers who are going to have another commodity they can produce, but also for businesses that are going to be making things from hemp.” Eken says it’s a work in progress at this point. “We’re still in the early stages of the session, but I do expect we’re going to be seeing legislation soon.”
