Risk Management Agency Administrator Martin Barbre spoke at the Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau annual meeting this past week. Barbre highlighted recent changes to the multi-county enterprise units. “There’s some 15 million acres that are in enterprise units today. Those producers have about 6-to-7 million acres outside of their primary counties. This will allow those producers to put those acres into enterprise units and get the enterprise unit discount for all of their acres, spreading out their risk.” Barbre said there is good interest in the new Dairy Margin Coverage program. “We’re gaining fast with producers picking up on it every week; we will know more after this first quarter.”
