Pioneer Seed Strategic Account Manager Jeremy Baumgarten says the acreage decisions have not been finalized. “Corn sales have been very good and I expect an uptick in corn acres. Most guys are limited by logistics and labor on how many corn acres they can go to so there’s probably more decisions left to be made on soybeans than anything else.” Baumgarten still expects a lot of soybeans to be planted this year. Trait decisions seem to be approached differently in the various parts of the region. “Within the Red River Valley, there is a lot of excitement about Enlist coming. That’s probably where the biggest concentration of Liberty acres are now so that Liberty/Enlist stack will drive acres. Outside of the (Red River) Valley, there’s more Xtend acres so it really depends on the weeds you’re trying to control and the grower’s practices.”
