President Donald Trump has no plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping before the March 1 deadline to finalize a trade deal. In a briefing with reporters, Trump said that timeline is “probably too soon.” Unless a framework agreement is in place on March 1, the U.S. plans to bump tariff rates from ten percent-to-25 percent on Chinese products. Trump’s comments sent the stock market lower. Soybeans were also down about eight cents on the day.
