With the March 1 deadline looming to finalize an agreement between the U.S. and China, the American Soybean Association is asking Congress to pressure the White House to end the tariffs. China has offered to buy an additional five million tons of U.S. soybeans as a sign of ‘good faith.’ American Soybean Association President Davie Stephens says that is a positive development, but it does not offset the damage seen by the soybean industry since the tariffs began. The ASA also sees the likelihood of long-term damage to the trade relationship with China.
