Creating a strong network of young agriculture professionals is the focus for the Northwest Minnesota Ag Peer Group. Hendrum, Minnesota farmer and University of Minnesota-Crookston student Carson Jossund joined the group in 2017. “I’ve learned more about different areas of the state and I’m not afraid to talk to different people or go to meetings.” Minnesota Soybean Manager of Industry Relations Sara Hewitt says this is a good investment for the future of Minnesota agriculture. “It’s great to have like-minded people in one area where they can bounce ideas off learn another to understand what maybe is working in one farm operation or agricultural business,” says Hewitt. “They can take some of that and bring it to their own farm or agriculture business. Then, also understanding different perspectives and opinions.” The Minnesota Farm Bureau, Minnesota Wheat, Minnesota Corn Growers Association, Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and Your Source of Growth Fund are investing in the Northwest Minnesota Ag Peer Group.
