Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers and the Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council Executive Director Dave Torgerson will retire March 31. He’s served Minnesota wheat growers for more than 30 years. Torgerson is looking forward to time with family. In an interview with the Red River Farm Network, Torgerson wouldn’t spend much time reflecting on the past, but he does see potential for wheat in the years ahead. “I really think wheat acres will get resurgence because of the value of wheat in the rotation,” says Torgerson. “In Minnesota and North Dakota, spring wheat is a premier, quality crop.” If local growers can maintain quality wheat and keep good markets, Torgerson says there will always be demand.
