According to a study commissioned by the National Milk Producers Federation, over 60 percent of consumers want to restrict non-dairy beverage companies from using the term ‘milk’ on their label. The Food and Drug Administration has regulations that defines milk as the product of an animal, but the rules are not enforced. The dairy industry is asking FDA to follow its own rules and prevent companies from labeling beverages made from products, like soybeans and almonds, as milk.
