According to the Purdue/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, the farmer’s perception about the farm economy weakened in December. While the current economic conditions are troubling, the survey found farmers are more confident about the future. The study found farmers remain cautious about making substantial farm investments given the current financial situation. Not surprisingly, trade is a major concern. The farmers surveyed also expect to see a reduction in the beef and dairy herds, but continued expansion in the hog herd.
