American Farm Bureau Federation Executive Vice President Dale Moore says the partial government shutdown will likely impact the implementation of the new farm bill. “There is going to be a strong desire among farmers and ranchers to see what those new rules look like. Whether it’s related to signing up for the new farm program provisions, making adjustments in how they are participating in the farm programs or in some cases, even impacting on crop insurance. It’s going to be a bit of a challenge in the short term. Hopefully lawmakers will get it sorted out soon.”
