Ahead of the 2019 growing season, the Mosaic Company senior agronomist Ross Bender says farmers should consider ways to better manage sulfur. “Higher yields require a greater demand for sulfur,” says Bender. “Any fertilizer source farmers can use that supplies the right amount and keeps it available longer is of great benefit to the plant.” Bender says lots of precipitation or snow can impact sulfur reserves for 2019. “The things we know about nitrogen apply to sulfur as well. At Mosaic, we have a phosphate source that’s fortified with sulfur called MicroEssentials. The product has multiple forms of sulfur to keep it longer.”
