Wet weather and harvest delays limited fall nitrogen application. Next spring, Koch Agronomic Services Director of Agronomy Greg Schwab recommends farmers use a nitrification inhibitor to keep nitrogen in place. “With the current commodity prices, farmers want to be efficient as possible,” says Koch. “Centuro nitrogen stabilizer helps farmers do this.” Soil applied urea is another area susceptible to leaching or denitrification. “Anvol is a urease inhibitor pending EPA registration. We are certain we’ll have that ready for spring. A urease inhibitor helps prevent loss of ammonia volitalization from urea when applied to the soil surface.”
