With the corn planting season beginning earlier and earlier, the demand for seed treatment is growing. Pioneer category lead for seed treatment technologies David Borgmeier says the crop needs to get off to a good start. “It is most vulnerable when it is cold and wet, we need to get the crop growing effectively so we can get a good stand.” Despite a challenging farm economy, Borgmeier says farmers are investing in seed treatments. “We still have to yield. It may be hard to do when times are tight, but if you don’t insure it, you’re taking greater risk. We still have to yield.”
