The EPA has unveiled its new proposed Waters of the United States rule. In developing the new rule, EPA received about 6,000 recommendations from various stakeholders. Once the rule is published, there will be a 60-day comment period. Agricultural Retailers Association President Daren Coppock said the new language defines ‘navigable waters’ in way that does not require a team of lawyers. Environmental Working Group vice president of agriculture and natural resources Craig Cox opposes the change, saying it removes federal safeguards.
