The former general manager at the Ashby Farmers Elevator is facing federal charges. Jerry Hennessey turned himself in after being on the run since early September. That’s when financial improprieties at the elevator surfaced, including allegations of embezzling nearly $5 million. Hennessey reportedly spent significant amounts of money on hunting trips, big game hunting expeditions and taxidermy. Hennessey, 56, had managed the Ashby cooperative for close to 30 years. The Wheaton-Dumont Cooperative Elevator is leasing the Ashby, Minnesota facility, but is not taking on its debt.
