Currently, livestock haulers are exempt from implementing electronic logging devices, or ELDs, through December 7. With the clock ticking, livestock groups are asking lawmakers for a further extension. “The livestock industry needs additional time to work with Congress and the Administration on a long-term solution to Hours of Service rules,” says National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Executive Director of Government Affairs Allison Rivera. A draft fiscal year 2019 government spending includes a provision that would delay ELD implementation for livestock haulers until September 30, 2019. “Extending the ELD implementation delay will give livestock haulers more breathing room while that process moves forward.”
