Before the end of the year, USDA will release standards on how biotech food ingredients are labeled. American Sugarbeet Growers Association Executive Vice President Luther Markwart is closely monitoring this issue. “Sugar and other refined products do not have any of this material in it and it is no different than what comes from conventional or organic crops. Even if it is derived come from a biotech crop, it is not different from its conventional counterparts.”
