Grand Forks, North Dakota based custom harvester Kent Braathen is working on sunflower harvest in the Onida, South Dakota area. However, conditions have been cold and wet. “That soaks into the flowers, so we’re waiting on some sun. Harvest is probably about 75 percent complete in the area,” says Braathen. Yields have been in the 3,000 pound range. “Moisture has got down to 16-18 percent. Overall, the farmers down here are doing well.”
