Minn-Dak Cooperative sugarbeet growers have finished harvest, and Vice President of Agriculture Tom Knudson says it was a slow one. “The first three-fourths went really good, but then it rained and the ground wouldn’t dry out. There wasn’t much progress for about ten days.” Knudson goes on to say yields were down from earlier projections. “We ended up at about 27 tons. There was an issue with lighter stands this year, which contributed to not getting the top end of the yield. Compared to normal, our populations were down about 10,000 plants per acre.”
