South Dakota farmers made good harvest progress over the past week. In the Houghton area, farmer Troy Knecht says soybean yields are around average. About half of Knecht’s soybeans were impacted by hail. “Other than that, there were enough hard freezes that the beans thrashed real nice. Moisture was down to 10 percent and the quality was there.” Farmers are shifting their focus to corn and so far, yields are above average. “The corn is really standing nice, even the crop that had hail damage. I would look for a big corn crop from the northeast part of South Dakota.”
