BASF has a new licensing agreement with the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard for the use of the CRISPR-Cpf1 genome. There is a patent battle between two different entities for the CRISPR-Cas9 technology, but the Broad Institute is considered the sole owner of the CRISPR-Cpf1 technology. CRISPR is a gene-editing tool that can accelerate the development of new agricultural products.
