Hillsboro, North Dakota farmers are busy harvesting sugarbeets, corn and soybeans. Lovas Ag Consulting owner Sarah Lovas says recent weather has been favorable for bean harvest. “With the help of the sun and wind, I’ve been finding moisture in the 11 to 12 percent range.” According to Lovas, so far the corn crop is average to above average for the area. However, variability will tell the story of soybeans yields. “What we’ve been combining has been average to above average. However, I don’t think we’ll have a good handle on yield until after harvest is finished. Some early fields might have been hurt by drought, while other fields north and west perhaps by snow.”
