Nearly 140 bids from 35 states have been submitted to USDA to be the new home for the Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture. In August, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced most ERS and NIFA staff would move outside of the Washington Beltway area by the end of 2019. As reported earlier, a group led by the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation is pushing for Fargo to be the new site. Three proposals were submitted in Minnesota; Minneapolis, Falcon Heights and Shakopee. For South Dakota, Brookings and Sioux Falls have expressed interest. The new location or locations will be selected by January.
