The issues impacting Rural Minnesota got attention in Tuesday’s gubernatorial debate between DFL’er Tim Walz and Republican Jeff Johnson. It was a vigorous, but genial discussion about transportation, health care, taxes and regulatory issues. “I think we have very different visions that affect Greater Minnesota,” said Johnson. “He (Walz) thinks we should increase the gas tax and I think we’re overtaxed in this state. I believe people should have control over their health care rather than a government takeover.” Johnson is a Detroit Lakes native who now lives in Plymouth and is in his final term as the Hennepin County commissioner.
