As of 12:01 a.m. today, the 2018 sugarbeet campaign is officially underway for American Crystal Sugar Company. Going into harvest, American Crystal General Agronomist Tyler Grove says the crop is in good shape. “On Friday, sugar samples came in at 18.6, so we’ve been pleased with that thus far. Tonnage is still at 30.7 for our staff, so that hasn’t changed. Both tonnage and sugar can vary quite a bit throughout the Red River Valley, depending on moisture content.” Full sugarbeet harvest for Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative opened Saturday. Right now, the 24-hour harvest schedule for Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative is slated to open October 8.
