Last year’s drought is obvious when you look at the USDA’s Small Grains Summary. In North Dakota, spring wheat production this year is estimated at 318 million bushels. That’s up 54 percent from last year. The situation is even more dramatic in South Dakota where spring wheat production is up 95 percent from last year. The size of Minnesota’s spring wheat crop grew by 22 percent.
