It is becoming apparent a new farm bill will not be passed and signed into law before the current program expires at the end of the month. A farm bill extension could also be delayed until December. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy hasn’t released details of the congressional schedule, but this will likely be the last week for lawmakers to be in session until after the mid-term elections. The Senate may remain in session longer to deal with the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
