Congress has limited days left to meet their September 30 deadline to pass a farm bill. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke isn’t optimistic about a farm bill being completed by the deadline. “It’s going to be punted. There’s likely going to be a extension,” says Sombke. “Even if there was anything passed, this farm economy is in such shambles that the farm bill doesn’t even address how they would fix it.”
