China announced retaliatory tariffs of five-to-ten percent against $60 billion worth of U.S. products. Making the list are meat products like lamb, salted beef and pig casings and hind legs. U.S. Meat Export Federation Vice-President of Communications Joe Schuele says the news especially impacts pork casings and stomach shipments. Out of the $700 million in pork shipped to China last year, about one-tenth of that, in value, is casings and stomachs.
