There is optimism about the American Crystal Sugar Company sugarbeet crop. “Pre-pile is going very well,” said Lynn Dusek, sales manager, Betaseed. “Sugar content has been very high, reflecting the dy weather we’ve had. Tons may be down slightly, but still running very well.” Dusek says tonnage should be good for farmers in the Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative region. It will be a different story for Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. “Tonnage will likely be below average because of moisture.”
