ProFarmer Canada President Mike Jubinville says the September StatsCan production report could be more accurate with what’s actually out in the field.“Canola, for instance, instead of a 19.1 million tonne crop, now it’s 21 million tonnes. It’s almost two million tonnes bigger. Same thing on the wheat side. Instead of the 29 million tonne of all-Canadian wheat crop, now it’s 31 million tonnes. The trade’s view of this right now is there is a typical understating that we see in production reports from Statistics Canada. When the final report comes out in December, I get the sense the trade is thinking these numbers might even be boosted a little higher.”
