The combination of low soybean prices and an unusually wide basis level has farmers looking at storage options for soybeans. North Dakota Soybean Growers Association Executive Director Nancy Johnson says storage options for soybeans are limited. Keeping soybeans in good condition is the critical factor when deciding where or how to store the crop. “People are exploring grain bags, but with soybeans that is really a tricky thing, because you just cannot do that ventilation. It is a high value crop. Even at really low prices it’s still a high value crop. It’s all about keeping them the right moisture and keeping that quality that we’ve worked so hard to sell to all of our customers around the world.”
