At Walhalla, North Dakota, area farmer Patrick Dunnigan has received only six inches of rain since the beginning of the growing season. Dunnigan was disappointed with the final results of the wheat crop. “We were surprised with the early yields, but seems like we missed a few rains and the heat was hard on flowering. We were about 60-bushel across the board, give or take a bit.” Dunnigan has started harvesting pinto beans, and so far the crop is satisfactory. “I’d say the crop will be over a ton, maybe in the low-to-mid 2,000 pounds. We’re happy with what we’ve seen so far, but it’s early yet.”
