Pro Farmer editor Brian Grete says ear counts came in below last year in Iowa and Minnesota, the only states on the Midwest Crop Tour having that situation. Iowa’s corn yield was put at 188.2 bushels per acre, nearly five percent higher than last year. Minnesota’s corn yield was estimated at 178.7 bushels per acre, down nearly seven percent from last year. “That was the only tour state where we had a yield under a year ago. Minnesota had its issues through south-central and southwestern parts of the state where it was just too wet.” Soybean pod counts were up 10.6 percent from last year in Iowa. Minnesota pod counts are up just under seven percent.
