For South Dakota cattlemen, snow load on barbed wire fencing can be a challenge. Based at the Van Buren, Arkansas facility, Bekaert Preferred Customer Supplier Keith Taylor says the Cattlemen 14g Barbed Wire has a 1,400 pound breaking strength and holds up against major snow loads. “Rancher’s don’t have to come back every year and re-stretch their fence. It’s not any cheaper or more expense than the 12.5g, and they’ll get 30, 40, maybe even 50 years out of the fence.” With installation of High Tensile Cattlemen products, the barbed wire just has to be pulled up tight. Bekaert Midwest Regional Sales Manager Percy Keys says “generally six-to-eight feet can be covered in a quarter mile.”
