In the first two weeks of September, USDA will be surveying small grain farmers in 32 states for its County Production Survey. North Dakota State Statistician Darin Jantzi encourages all farmers who receive a survey to fill it out. “Obviously, everyone counts. It’s also important because we send out more than enough to ensure we get enough back to where we can publish a county.” Jantzi says NASS cannot publish a county yield unless is receives enough reports from a county to make it statistically defensible.
