At Crookston, Minnesota, Gary Wagner is disappointed with the wheat yields. “Protein quality is extremely high. The variety we’re harvesting first is getting 17.2 and 17.4 percent protein. It’s kind of unreal, but the yield has dropped a little bit.” Other crops have suffered from a lack of rain. “We are extremely dry. I have never seen sugarbeets wilt down as much as they are right now.”
