At the end of the month, Minnesota AgriGrowth Executive Director Perry Aasness is moving on to a new opportunity. Aasness will join Compeer Financial as its vice president of legislative affairs. The Fergus Falls native says AgriGrowth is an advocate for Minnesota’s agriculture and food interests. “We’re so blessed in Minnesota to have the large Fortune 500 companies that create hundreds and thousands of jobs, but they’re here because we have a strong production ag base. Minnesota is so unique because we have the best of both worlds; we’ve got the strong food/agribusiness companies and production agriculture base. Representing their interests with AgriGrowth has been a real honor.” Aasness has been at AgriGrowth for five years. Former Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson has been named the interim executive director.
