Gordley and Associates’ Dale Thorenson says we’ll know more about the Senate farm bill conferees early this week. The Senate is in recess starting the week of August 6 and will return to Washington D.C. in September. “Staff aren’t going back to the districts. They will be hard at work during August regardless because they’ve got to get this done by September 30.” Thorenson thinks two months should be long enough to get a farm bill completed. “You’re not talking about major new policy. As far as the commodity title is concerned, there’s the payment limit issue and the commodity title. Then there’s the conservation differences. They’ll work those out.”
