North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne says there are questions about how the Commodity Credit Corporation funding will work to reimburse farmers. “We can’t show as much how the transportation is impacting crops. That’s the first question. The second is what form? I mean, some are suggesting while this will be loans, some are saying it’s a direct payment. Kind of like the old decoupled payments. Final question is what is it based on? Is it based on our planted acres this year, harvested bushels? From previous records?” Watne says farmers need to get what they deserve in the marketplace.
