Valley City, North Dakota farmer and American Soybean Association director Monte Peterson says the China trade dispute and the status of the North American Free Trade Agreement are top-of-mind. He met with the Chief Agriculture Negotiator in the office of the U.S. Trade Representative Gregg Doud Wednesday. Peterson confirms a NAFTA agreement will likely happen before an agreement with China. Doud didn’t offer much optimism on trade with China and told soybean growers to prepare for something more long-term on getting something ratified. Farmers may not be able to wait that long.
