Lawmakers are expected to conference the farm bill when they return from recess. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar says the Senate version of the farm bill is strong. “I think number one is the safety net stays in place for all of our commodities. That’s important and they were all fine with it. The energy title is strong,” says Klobuchar. “We’ve got really crazy things going on right now where the former EPA Administrator has been granting waivers to oil companies from the Renewable Fuel Standard. It’s important to fully fund the energy title.” Dairy is also addressed in the Senate’s farm bill. “We want to make sure we’re not dependent on foreign food and foreign milk.”
