The University of Minnesota-Crookston’s Northwest Research and Outreach Center will host their annual Crops and Soils day on Wednesday, July 18. “I have an area that’s weed free,” said UM-Extension Dean Bev Durgan, who is also a weed scientist. “We looked at applying the labeled rate and then, one-and-a-half of the labeled rate just to see if there’s any differences in the wheat varieties and how they tolerate the herbicide.” Other topics covered in the Crops and Soils Day include improving seeding rates for wheat, disease management in small grains and managing sugarbeet root diseases.
