The U.S. winter wheat harvest is just past the half-way point, according to Monday’s USDA crop progress and condition report. USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey says winter wheat harvest is 51 percent complete. Winter wheat condition is rated only 37 percent good to excellent, but the spring wheat crop is totally different. “We are at 77 percent good to excellent, just five percent very poor to poor. No change from last week. It’s dramatically better than last year’s drought damaged crop. At this point it was 37 percent good to excellent and 33 percent very poor to poor.”
