Compared to last year, soybean acreage is down in North Dakota and Minnesota and up slightly in South Dakota. USDA estimates North Dakota soybean acreage at 6.6 million acres. That’s down from just over 7.1 million acres last year. Minnesota farmers planted 7.8 million acres of soybeans, down from 8.1 million last year. South Dakota soybean acreage is estimated at 5.7 million acres, up slightly. North Dakota corn acreage is estimated at 3.3 million acres, down from 3.4 million acres in 2017. Minnesota corn acreage is reported at 7.8 million, down from 8 million last year. For South Dakota, corn acreage is at 5.2 million acres. That’s down from the March prospective plantings report and down from last year’s total of 5.7 million.
