North Dakota Grain Growers Association E-Tour participant Nancy Beck works at EPA headquarters in Washington D.C. As Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Chemical and Pesticide Division, Beck says seeing how products are applied helps determine what regulations are workable. “You can read things when you’re in D.C. but it’s just not the same. The farmers here have been so generous with their time, and it’s helpful to hear them talk about their experiences and their practices,” says Beck. “Also, it’s invaluable to our team at EPA to foster these relationships. Now I know who to call when I have questions about grains, current practices or technology.”
