Fertility is a significant limiting factor for yield. West Central Distribution technical specialist Steve Carlson cites the availability of phosphorus. “The International Plant Nutrition Institute does a great job and looks at the soil tests they get every year and notice some critical trends. One of the things we look at is phosphorus. In Minnesota, about 50 percent of the samples are critically of phosphorus and when we move to North Dakota, it’s 83 percent.” West Central sponsored the LIFT Summit. LIFT stands for Leaders of In-Furrow and Foliar Technology.
