In testimony before the House of Commons international trade committee, Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said a NAFTA deal is still possible. Freeland emphasized the NAFTA negotiations are not tied to the current dispute over steel and aluminum exports. U.S. and Canadian officials apparently talked in recent days and Freeland said there is a desire to move forward on NAFTA.
