Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar says the Senate worked out their version of the farm bill differently than the House. “I think our first focus is what do we agree on? We want a strong safety net. I’ve been taking the lead on the avian flu issue with the vaccine bank and that’s something I think we’re going to see in there. Dairy has been hit hard. Not only did we get that Margin Protection Program expanded in the budget back in April we’re going to be doing some more things on premiums. We will also keep the sugar program.” She says the Senate Agriculture Committee could mark up the bill Tuesday and Wednesday. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised to move the bill quickly to the floor when passed out of committee.
